23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Notes for this Weekend

Welcome

Welcome to our Eucharistic Celebration on this Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time.

The Holy Spirit draws us here today to worship our Lord, to listen to God’s word, and to celebrate the Eucharist. On this holiday weekend, as we recognize the blessings of human labor and of all those who work, whether they are paid or unpaid, we are also inspired to take part in the Lord’s work. May this Eucharist strengthen us as we labor in the vineyard, helping to bring Christ’s saving message to a hungry world.

The intentions of this Mass are for all those in our special intention basket and...

Please stand for our procession.

Universal Prayer

A. For the Church, that we may courageously take up our crosses as we faithfully follow in the footsteps of Jesus, let us pray to the Lord.

B. For everyone in the labor force, that their employers may treat them with dignity, pay them a living wage, and provide them with safe and healthy working conditions, let us pray to the Lord.

C. For all who are unemployed or underemployed, that they may not lose heart as they search for an opportunity to exercise their talents for the benefit of society, let us pray to the Lord.

D. That we may recognize that the value of our material possessions pales in comparison to the value of our discipleship in the Lord and the gift of eternal salvation, let us pray to the Lord.

E. That we may trust in God’s goodness and mercy even when we feel overwhelmed by the crosses we bear, let us pray to the Lord.

F. For all the prayers that we hold in the silence of our hearts; for all our intentions spoken and unspoken, let us pray to the Lord.
