Notes for this Weekend
We will have a second collection today.
Welcome
Welcome to our Eucharistic Celebration on this Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells guests at a feast to accept their invitations with humility, to be satisfied with the lowest place at the table. We are guests at a feast today, invited by our Lord to this wonderful Eucharistic meal. We come with humility, acknowledging our imperfections and sinfulness. Jesus also tells the host to invite those who are not well-off, who cannot repay him in kind. Our host today at this feast is Jesus, who offers his very Body and Blood for our redemption. There is no way we can truly repay him for his generosity and mercy. Let us give thanks for his constant invitation.
The intentions of this Mass are for all those in our special intention basket and...
Please stand for our procession.
Universal Prayer
A. That we may be a welcoming Church, making people of all backgrounds, all cultures, all histories, and all walks of life feel welcome in this one body of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
B. For our country’s leaders, that they may be inspired to invite those who have difficulty paying their bills or putting food on the table to “move up to a higher position” at the banquet of life, let us pray to the Lord.
C. That we may care for all of God’s creation as we care for all that we love, so that our world and our environment may be sustained for generations as numerous as Abraham and Sarah’s, let us pray to the Lord.
D. For those who suffer in the heat of summer, especially those who are homeless or cannot afford adequate cooling, let us pray to the Lord.
E. That we may be a home for the poor, as we sang in today’s responsorial psalm, extending God’s generosity to all those in need, let us pray to the Lord.
F. For all the prayers that we hold in the silence of our hearts; for all our intentions spoken and unspoken, let us pray to the Lord.
