25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Notes for this Weekend

Welcome

Welcome to our Eucharistic Celebration on this Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Jesus teaches his disciples an important lesson about wealth in today’s Gospel. In the parable he tells them, the clever steward is applauded for finding a way to maintain his wealth despite losing his job. But this kind of wealth is not what is truly important, for true wealth is found in God. We cannot allow money (mammon) to be our master. Today, on Catechetical Sunday, let us be reminded that Jesus, our Teacher, continually teaches us the way to eternal dwellings.

The intentions of this Mass are for all those in our special intention basket and...

Please stand for our procession.

Universal Prayer

A. For the Church, that we may recognize the value of true wealth, and may be generous in sharing what we have with those in need, let us pray to the Lord.

B. For all who exercise authority, that they may be honest and trustworthy in handling the matters that are entrusted to them, let us pray to the Lord.

C. For those who suffer in poverty, and all who struggle to make ends meet, that they may be lifted up by the Lord, who looks with favor on all those in need, let us pray to the Lord.

D. For catechists and all who teach the faith to others, that they may know the value of their efforts as they instill and deepen a love of the Lord in those they teach, let us pray to the Lord.

E. For those who have chosen to serve material wealth over serving God, that they may realize the true worth of those things that cannot be calculated in dollars and cents, let us pray to the Lord.

F. For all the prayers that we hold in the silence of our hearts; for all our intentions spoken and unspoken, let us pray to the Lord.
